“Gospels and Garands at dawn”

A set of King and Country figure collated into a one-off diorama in it’s own handpainted box.   As part of the Battle of the Bulge, the Waffen SS undertook “Operation Greif” to try and capture bridges over the river Meuse before they could be destroyed by the allies.  During this operation, some Waffen SS troops donned American Army uniforms in order to infiltrate the allied lines and cause confusion.  The fate of German soldiers captured (wearing US uniforms) were tried as spies and executed.   This little set of figures portrays the contradictions of these awful events;  On the one hand, the Chaplin is reading from his Gospel and on the other, the MP’s are taking aim with their Garands.
