Nigel Mansell – “Our Nige” Ferrari

Nigel Mansell

Often affectionately referred to by many of his fans as “Our Nige”, Nigel Mansell was regarded as being “very hard but fair” by many of his contemporaries.  His time at Ferrari was less than a happy affair – while he put in some sterling drives for the team the car was dreadfully unreliable and during his two years there he only netted three wins. Ayrton Senna Senninha 1/20 scale driver figure

Still sticking with my miniature driver figures, I spent the afternoon refining the painting on this 1/20 figure of Ayrton Senna.  The figure is by CRAFT10 – a resin casting with brilliant crisp surface detail sporting a good facial likeness and a nice relaxed pose.    I’ve depicted him in wearing his Rothmans overalls from the tragic ’94 season at Williams, and rather than the Senna “S” logo on the T shirt, I decided to paint on the logo of his childrens charity, the “Senninha” foundation – which thankfully is still going strong with the guidance of his sister.   As I’m … Continue reading Ayrton Senna Senninha 1/20 scale driver figure

Ayrton Senna 1/20 scale figure – WIP

Still working on my WIP line-up.  This one is of Ayrton Senna (an old Modellers figure) 1/20 in resin.  I decided to depict him wearing his own logo on what was going to be a very plain white t shirt.  Using acrylics, I’ve blocked in the main colours and have  added the stitching detail on the suit.  I’ll add some Marlboro logos and the like to inject more interest and in particular, I’ll add a large Marlboro panel to the back of the suit…… and the work continues – more later. Michael Schumacher 1/20 figure – WIP Monaco 2006

This is another 1/20 resin figure I have “on the go” at the moment.  It’s an original GF-models figure which I have converted into a more relaxed stance depicting Michael Schumacher at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2006.  This was the race where Schumacher famously “parked” his car at the Rascasse corner and thereby blocking Alonso (who was on his fast lap) from setting a faster time!  I’m not sure of the significance of it, but Schumacher also wore a very distinctive race suit at this grand prix – whatever the reason, it didn’t stop the stewards from penalising his … Continue reading Michael Schumacher 1/20 figure – WIP Monaco 2006

Ayrton Senna – “Senninha” 1/20 scale figure WIP

This 1/20 scale resin figure of Ayrton Senna has been in my WIP line-up for a while now, and today I eventually got back to painting in some more of the details.   Using a photo of him taken at his home Grand Prix in Brazil (the first GP in ’94), I decided to depict him wearing one of his “Senninha” type T shirts which features the comic character logo of his charitible foundation. So far I’ve just outlined the Senninha graphic on the T shirt with medium values – the boots have been given some initial shading as have the … Continue reading Ayrton Senna – “Senninha” 1/20 scale figure WIP

WORK IN PROGRESS – 1/20 SCALE F1 DRIVER FIGURES

I’ve just started another batch of 1/20 scale F1 driver figures – includes Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, two versions of Senna, Gilles Villeneuve, Hamilton etc… So far, I’ve blocked in the main values on the two Sennas and Prost and some facial tones on one of the Schumachers and Alonso… better get on with the rest of the painting!
